Hungerford is a market town based in the West of Berkshire. It is based on the River Dunn and is almost situated on the border of Wiltshire. It lies right in the middle of Newbury and Marlborough and is only a few miles from the M4 corridor. The town has its own railway station situated on the London to Taunton line which gives easy access to towns such as Newbury, Reading and London. Hungerford is twinned with a town in France named Ligueil, Indre-et-Loire. The town also has a football team, which plays in the Southern Football League. They also have a rugby and a cricket team. Some notable people that live in the Hungerford area are Will Young, winner of the ITV series Pop Idol, who went on to release the fastest selling debut single in the UK.
