Thatcham is a town based in Berkshire, 3 miles east of Newbury. Some say it is the oldest town in Britain. It is situated on the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Kennet runs right through the middle of the town. Also has easy access to the M4 corridor, being just 3 miles away from Newbury and Junction 12. There is also a bus service which is run by Newbury buses that also gives access to towns and villages up until Reading along the A4. There are 2 main schools in Thatcham, Francis Baily a primary school and then Kennet school which is for secondary years, which was named an Academy for its specialism’s in Art, Technology and Language. These schools are used by the local community in Thatcham as well as outside villages.
