It could pay to get all the facts on what the state might provide you:
- Statutory Sick Pay is only £89.35* a week and is only paid for up to 28 weeks – although your employer may pay more than this
- With Employment and Support allowance you’ll get up to £73.10* a week – not a lot when you consider the average household family spend is £528.90* a week.
- And it increases up to £109.65* a week from the fourteenth week – just over a fifth of the average weekly outgoings.
